Ministry of Energy, GNPOC support Unity State (20/08/07)


In collaboration with the Greater Nile Company For Oil Operations and with the participation of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and the Sudanese Red Crescent Society Chief, the Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr. Awad Al-Jaz, inaugurated yesterday, the Campaign supporting the victims of rains and floods in Unity State, South Sudan.
 
 
The Minister affirmed his keenness to support the people of the State as enhancement to the CPA, urging the citizens there to practice agricultural activities instead of complete reliance on oil.

He further stated that the Campaign was composed of 10 trucks loaded with medications and vaccines. Over and above, the campaign included one million cattle, 5000 sacks of sorghum, 250 blankets, 250 carpets, 200 mosquito nets in addition to 16 spray pumps for human and animal protection.

The Minister also urged the oil companies operating there to collaborate in the rehabilitation of the roads affected by the rains and floods.

For his part, the State Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Ahmed Haroun, paid tribute to all contributors to the campaign, particularly, the Ministry of Animal Resources for the provision of vaccines for the State rich in animal resources.

The Unity State Deputy Governor, King Kong praised all the parties that extended aid to his State ever since the beginning of the rains and floods catastrophe.
