Telecommunication line linking Sudan and Ethiopia inaugurated (13/08/07)


The optic fiber telecommunication line linking Sudan and Ethiopia has been inaugurated in a grand celebration held at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa in the presence of a big Sudanese delegation led by Minister of Information and Communications Al-Zahawi Ibrahim Malik, Undersecretary of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mutrif Sidik and Director of the Sudanese Telecommunications Company (Sudatel) Engineer Imad-Eddin Hassan.
 
 

The delegation was received by the Ethiopian Minister of Transport and Communications and the Director of the Ethiopian Telecommunication Company. The Ethiopian Minister affirmed the distinguished relations linking Sudan and Ethiopia, pointing out that the project would contribute to boosting these relations further.

He appreciated the concern of Sudan regarding the telecommunication project.

Minister of Information and Communications Al-Zahawi Ibrahim Malik, on his part, affirmed that the telecommunication project comes to serve the two countries, pointing out that it affirms the Sudanese government's commitment to cooperation with Ethiopia.

He said that Sudan looks forward to become a regional telecommunication centre in Africa through implementation of such projects.
