Individuals affected by oil operations to be compensated (09/08/07)


Member of the Energy and Mining Committee in the National Assembly, Abdul Moneim Um-Badi has said that compensation of the people affected by oil operations in their areas will be a top priority for his Committee during the coming session.

Um-Badi stated that the Committee has started drafting legislations that is organizing the work of the Ministry of Energy and Mining in the field of mineral exploration, including oil.
 
 
He asserted that the Committee plays a transparent role in all oil operations, particularly with respect to clearly indicating oil revenues accrued by the Southern states.

He added that the Committee has supported the Ministry's efforts related to expanding the national electricity network, revealing that within the coming days the Committee will start a visit program to oil establishments and electric-generation plants to inspect performance in the course of the Committee's supervisory program.
