Local markets in Khartoum to be relocated (16/07/07)


The first phase of developing local markets in Sudan will include Suk Alarabi, the central vegetable and fruit market. The plan for Alarabi market includes transferring public transport park to the railway area and transforming the place between Abdel Moneim Street in the west and the palace street in the east, into green squares.
 
 
The plan will transfer the locality from Abuginzir to another place. Dr. Abdel Halim Almuta’afi, the Governor of Khartoum State discussed these developments with Khartoum Locality Commissioner Mubarak Alkoda and he confirmed that the plan would be executed immediately.

The Governor also directed concerned authorities to choose creative people to lead the plan of developing local markets. Regarding the central vegetable and fruit market, AlmutaÕafi pledged to start the change from tomorrow.

He also visited the central vegetables and fruit market in Omdurman and directed the concerned authorities to rehabilitate the market and maintain the water drainage system network.

Commissioner of Omdurman stated that he would immediately execute the directives.
