Al-Bashir affirms commitment to development (12/07/07)


The President of Sudan, Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir, has affirmed the Government of National Unity’s determination and keenness on actualizing development and prosperity through long-term strategic programs.
 
 
While addressing the popular gathering in Port Sudan yesterday to celebrate the inauguration of Bashair II Port for exporting oil, President Al-Bashir reviewed the process of development witnessed by Sudan during the past eighteen years of the Salvation Government.

President Al-Bashir hailed the peace partners in the SPLM, the Eastern Sudan Front, the Sudan Liberation Movement and the National Democratic Alliance, asserting the need for moving ahead towards building the country.

He added that the Salvation Government has come for the sake of the marginalized in all the regions of Sudan, illustrating that it has sought to avail health, medical treatment and other basic services in addition to electricity that will be provided by Meroe Dam to reach Al Genaina in the west and Port Sudan in the East in the course of the coming year.

He further pledged to launch more development projects in the Red Sea State in the fields of water and services to liberate the citizens of the State from poverty and diseases.

Meanwhile the Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, asserted that his Ministry will step up its efforts to accomplish more achievements for the welfare of the people of Sudan. He praised the faithful diligence of the Sudanese youth, the companies and investors who have executed the project.

The Governor of the Red Sea State, Mohammed Tahir Eila, described the occasion as a festival for the people of Sudan and an addition in real terms to the other achievement realized in the process of building the nation, indicating that the claims of the people of eastern Sudan for development and construction have been met.

He hailed the Eastern Sudan Front and stressed that it will receive all cooperation from his government, and asserted that his State has a promising future because it is viable for launching giant projects in the fields of roads, ports, electricity, oil and gas exploration and gold. He concluded by confirming that the Red Sea State will stand by its pledge to strive and make sacrifices for the sake of stability and security of the country.
